    About

    cook with dana

    Hi! I’m Dana ◡̈

I started Cook With Dana because I loved cooking new recipes and eating asian food. Cooking was also a place for me to relax and I found the sounds of bubbling, sizzling and chopping quite therapeutic. This feeling inspired me to create calming content for my audience.

I love eating Asian food (East Asian primarily) like Japanese and Korean food. Chinese food holds a special place in my heart because both of my parents are from Guangzhou, China. As you will see throughout my blog, there are lots of Cantonese recipes that I learned from my family.

When I cook, I love to re-create recipes from my travels to ensure it tastes as authentic as possible. I also like to make recipes EASY so when I’m tired, I can still have a tasty home-cooked meal. My rice cooker recipes are the best when you want to have something taste like home without the hassle of cooking for too long. My favorites are the Oyokodon Rice Cooker Meal and One Pot Chinese Chicken Rice.

My goal for this blog is to create authentic recipes that remind you of your family’s home cooked meals.

My Favorite Easy & Delicious Recipes:

    • chicken and rice with cucumbers, spicy sweet and sour red sauce, green onions ginger
One Pot Chicken Rice – Hainanese Chicken Rice
    • white long noodles with sliced cucumber, minced pork and peanuts on top. mix with sesame and chili sauce for fragrant noodles
      Easy Dan Dan Noodles
    • creamy chicken on top of white rice on a grey plate with a spoon
      One Pot Creamy Garlic Chicken
    • Easy Seolleongtang (Ox Bone Soup)
lots of dishes on the table such as scrambled egg, duck, soup, roast pork

My love for food comes from..

My family always made delicious home cooked meals! They also owned a Chinese and Japanese restaurant so I was able to learn a few tricks here and there. Not only were there lots of food variety, but my family focused on sourcing the freshest meat and vegetables! Ever since I was little, we would have family dinners with my uncles, aunts and cousins. All we talked about at the dinner table was the FOOD! The delicious food definitely influenced me to become such a foodie today. I’m so blessed to have great cooks in my family to teach me cooking tips and how to cook authentic Chinese food.

    Travel for food

One of my favorite things to do besides eating and cooking, is traveling. I love to try the food from the native area and show my friends my favorite spots because we all deserve to eat good food. That’s why I created fun travel blog posts to show where you can find the best food in that area. I only show my closest friends (which is you hehe) the BEST FOOD, so don’t sleep on the recs (like this extra large kimbap in my photo!). You can also find food/travel recommendations (New York, LA, Japan & Korea) on my Instagram highlights (at the top of the page under my profile picture)!

    Happy eating and cooking.

    xx
