- Aromatics: A quick saute of onion and garlic layer in some deeper flavors right from the start.
- Veggies: Frozen peas and diced carrots make this recipe super simple.
- Ketchup: Gives our fried rice it’s classic tomato flavor.
- Soy sauce: Deepens the savory flavors of the rice.
- Oil: Used for frying the vegetables and rice. You can use any neutral oil such as vegetable or canola oil.

Expert Tips
- Adding Protein: The chicken flavor helps enhance the flavor of the rice. In addition, it will make the dish more filling and delicious.
- Use Leftover Rice: This is crucial to a fluffy Japanese omelette rice. Leftover rice is drier than recently cooked rice which gives your fried rice a much better texture.
- Storing: Enjoy your Japanese rice omelette freshly made for the best flavor. If you happen to have leftovers and don’t want to waste you can store it in the fridge for up to three days. Reheat it in the microwave in short intervals until heated through.
- Smooth Omelette: After whisking your eggs, you can put it through a strainer. This will ensure your eggs will be extra soft and smooth.
Recipe FAQs
Sure thing! Swap the chicken bouillon for a vegetable one and leave out the meat protein. If you want to add more protein you can add some cubes of firm tofu or other plant-based protein.
