Korean Air-Fryer Chicken Wings

korean fried chicken made in air fryer with spicy sauce

Spicy Korean air fryer chicken wings can be made in the air fryer! Chicken wings fried in oil is super delicious, but also tedious to make at home. This air fryer version is healthier (with less oil) and easier if you’re craving some korean fried chicken (KFC)!

The korean sauce can be made while the wings are in the air fryer. The taste of the sauce is savory, spicy and umami. I recommend to brush the sauce on the wings to ensure that the wings remain crispy. Too much sauce can make the wings slightly soggy. Enjoy this easy dinner idea and feel free to use your favorite sauce on the wings!

Can I make oven-baked wings instead?

Yes you can! However, the wings are going to take longer in the oven than the air fryer. You will need to place the wings on a wire rack and baking pan. Bake them for 20 minutes at 425 degrees Fahrenheit on one side and flip over and cook on the other side for 20-30 more minutes until crispy. Make sure to watch the wings and turn them when needed. Since all ovens slightly vary, cooking time might be longer than 40-50 minutes.

BRUSH SAUCE OR DIP SAUCE:

Its recommended to brush your sauce or dip your wings in the sauce. These chicken wings are crispy but are not fried so its easy for the skin to soften once the sauce hits.

You can also use your sauce of choice like buffalo, soy garlic (check out my soy garlic sauce in the hyperlink!) or garlic parmesan!

INGREDIENTS YOU NEED FOR YOUR AIR FRYER CHICKEN WINGS:

chicken marinade

  • 1 pound wings
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon shaoxing cooking wine or soju
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder

korean spicy sauce

  • 1/2 tablespoon gochujang – red pepper paste
  • 1/2 tablespoon gochugaru (add more if you like it extra spicy!) – red pepper powder
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 2 grated garlic
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 teaspoon neutral oil
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1/2 tablespoon sugar

garnish:

  • crushed peanuts
  • sliced green onions

STEPS TO MAKE THE AIR FRYER CHICKEN WINGS:

  1. Wash your chicken wings and pat dry. Next, marinate your chicken wings in 1/4 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, 1 tablespoon shaoxing cooking wine or soju, and 1 tablespoon baking powder. Mix everything together.
  2. Preheat air fryer to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Once pre-heated, add 5-6 wings at a time (add more wings if you have a larger air fryer). Air fry for 15 minutes at 400 or until golden brown.
  3. While the wings are cooking, make your korean spicy sauce. Mix all these ingredients together – 1/2 tablespoon gochujang, 1/2 tablespoon gochugaru, 1 tablespoon soy sauce, 1/3 cup water, 2 grated garlic, 1 teaspoon grated ginger, 1 teaspoon neutral oil, 1 teaspoon honey, and 1/2 tablespoon sugar until gochujang is dissolved.
  4. Add sauce on pan and heat on medium low heat. Stir the sauce occasionally in the pan so it doesn’t stick. When the sauce starts bubbling, turn off heat. Cook the sauce for 3-4 minutes total. Cool sauce down and set aside.
  5. Once the wings are done in the air fryer. Take them out and cool for 3-5 minutes. This step is important to make the wings crispy! After cooling, brush a light coating of the korean spicy sauce on both sides of the wing.
  6. To garnish, add some chopped peanuts and green onions on top of the spicy wings! Enjoy!

My new favorite soup right now 😍Here’s a supe My new favorite soup right now 😍Here’s a super easy and not traditional Korean ox bone soup aka Seolleongtang 설렁탕 🥰 Super hot bone broth is topped with beautifully marbled beef, Chinese chives, green onions, and some salt and pepper to taste. Add some Korean kimchi radish and it’s chef’s kiss!

See blog post for more detail on the ingredients (like which bone broth I bought) and full recipe ◡̈ You gotta use somen noodles for this recipe. It only takes 3 minutes to make. Tip: boil noodles at the same time as the broth to make cooking fast🍜

Wishing you luck, health and prosperity with this Wishing you luck, health and prosperity with this turnip cake recipe aka loh bok go in cantonese. Gung Hey Fat Choy ([恭喜发财] my dumplings! PS. I don’t recommend saying lai see dou loi unless you’re very close to that relative or you are a young child lol

Full recipe is linked in bio or find on my bloggg 🧧🐰

I finally finished testing out this recipe (it’s beeen a few months haha)! I was struggling with the texture for a little while. Now, the recipe is good to go ◡̈  The flavor is very savory from the chinese sausage and cured pork belly (made from my dad!) and also sweet from the radish. The texture is firm but not too doughy because I loaded this up with lots and lots of radish. You will never find a restaurant that has as much radish as this homemade recipe. Lastly, I pan fried the turnip cake to give it a nice crisp at the end.

Don’t forget Chinese New Year is celebrated on the eve (21st of January!) so have a nice dinner with your family on Saturday. Then my mom told me to not clean or do any labor on actual Chinese New Years Day (22nd of January). Wishing all you dumplings good health and wealth in the upcoming year.

This egg drop soup is inspired by my parent’s Ch This egg drop soup is inspired by my parent’s Chinese restaurant 😋Silken tofu is cooked in a sweet chicken broth and cornstarch slurry is added to thicken the soup as well as make the smooth & thick texture.

Some Cantonese restaurants serve this with real crab meat (highly recommend if you have this!) and the color is on the whiter end (hence why we’re using egg whites!). However, if you want to use the whole egg, feel free to use it! The egg yolk makes the soup more yellow and creamy.

You can google ‘cook with dana egg drop soup’ for full recipe or find it in my link in bio! Hope you have a wonderful week my dumplings and can’t wait to show you my Chinese New Year recipes!

Fridge clean out time! 🙃 Crab jeon (omelette) o Fridge clean out time! 🙃 Crab jeon (omelette) or korean seafood pancake is a great recipe to use all your leftover ingredients in the fridge. For groceries, I always use the ‘first in, first out’ method meaning the older groceries need to be used before eating the new stuff. I’m chopping up leftover vegetables and onions in small pieces and mixing them together with imitation crab. The pancake may taste different depending on what ingredients you have but once you mix it with eggs and some flour (especially korean pancake mix!), it will taste scrumptious in it’s own unique way.

The next time you stock up, make sure to keep some type of seafood in the freezer at all times. For me, I tend to buy extra imitation crab and shrimp. Then you will always have good staples to make with your leftover ingredients.

Check link in bio for recipe or google ‘crab jeon dana’ to find full recipe and directions ◡̈ Stay dry california dumplings, there’s lots of rain here haha.

My uncle taught me how to make braised pork over r My uncle taught me how to make braised pork over rice! This dish tastes sweet and savory (similar to teriyaki) which goes so well with rice. The recipe is inspired by Japanese soboro don which is served with scrambled egg, but I think it also reminds me of the Taiwanese dish, Lu rou fan. We cook the ground pork down in some beer to make the meat taste sweeter as well as cut down on the gaminess.

Don’t forget to serve with hot white rice and a sunny side egg to complete the meal. I was intensely writing down the ingredients and instructions so you can make it at home 😉❤️Check it out in my link in bio or google ‘braised pork rice dana’ 🍚

You’re about to eat 2 bowls of rice with this ea You’re about to eat 2 bowls of rice with this easy and delicious mapo tofu! This is spicy, flavorful and a little tingly from the peppercorn oil. This is not an authentic replica of the sichuan mapo tofu but it’s very close. I would say the dish is a combo of sichuan and cantonese flavors 😍
My uncle taught me how to make this and it’s one of my favorite recipes to cook when I don’t have a lot of ingredients in the fridge. Also eating spicy and hot foods when it’s cold outside always makes me happy for some reason. Check full recipe in the blog or link in bio 🥵❤️‍🔥🌶

Sorry y’all for the lighting in the video. It’s cold and gloomy here in California. Hopefully weather gets better and we can have some golden ☀️ shots! Love you all and stay warm dumplings.
